What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #205

Time again for that world-wide nosy into other crafter's rooms and workdesks, hosted by the ever lovely and entertaining Miss Julia of Stamping Ground! You will definitely want to visit them all, starting with our charming Hostess!!!

I'm going to go ahead and admit two things: 1) This is my desk yesterday morning, not today! Today's I'm working on something that can't be shown because the recipient reads my blog and I want it to be a surprise. 2) Although I know we are supposed to keep this 'short & sweet', this is, as usual, going to be a very photo-heavy blog post. I think just being asked to keep it short makes it wind up even longer. I'm very, very contrary, lol!!! So right....

My desk yesterday morning:
Gorgeous and fabby starter kit from IndigoBlu!

I fell in love with gilding flakes when I stumbled upon a video about them on YouTube. Wow, wow, wow!!! It was like MAGIC, and I couldn't wait to try it out myself!

I bought some from Amazon, and they arrived around Christmastime. I had been told that to use them, all I would need is a glue pad (like ink, only glue). WRONG!!! So when I finally got around to use them about a week ago, it wouldn't work with the glue pad. And nothing I else I had on hand would work either. Frustrated!!!! So I searched and searched, and finally re-discovered IndigoBlu. I paid for my kit and a couple of new pots of flakes, grumbled about the exchange rate, and waited. But not for long! They arrived in record time, and yesterday I got to make these...
YES!!!!!!
(Cue cherubs singing!)
Although I wouldn't recommend using a large background stamp for your first go at this, it worked out beautifully!!! This is a new stamp from Stampin Up's upcoming catalog, called Wildlife Meadows. It also has a matching embossing folder! I've also used SU's Naturals Ivory cardstock to stamp on for the first time. It's an amazing card stock, thicker than Whisper White and very "vintage" looking!

IndigoBlu's Lancashire Rose gilding flakes, matted with brushed gold card stock and Melon Mambo.

Lancashire Rose again, but paired with brushed gold card stock and Rich Razzleberry.

Artocoe's Sunshine gilding flakes matted with Barely Banana and Peach Parfait card stock. This one is also embossed using the matching folder.

IndigoBlu's Morris Dance gilding flakes (my favorite!!) matted with brushed gold and Taken With Teal card stock.
LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So there you have my desk for the week!! Thanks so much for the visit and I hope you'll leave a comment before you go!

I have never seen those flakes before. They are very pretty. You did a fabulous job on those cards. Love how neat and tidy the desk was before you got a chance to get your shimmer on! I hope to participate in the WOYWW postings when I get my room finished! :)

The results are stunning. I seem to get in a terrible mess with gilding flakes and always want to sneeze or cough! Happy WOYWW. Pam#23

Well they turned out really well!! Funny I had my gilding flakes out last night and tried a glue pad (just being too lazy to get out the glu as it was right there). And I agree no success at all. But I have used all sorts of glue with them (and double sided tape gives you a great 'line'). I like the stamp and matching emboss too. Happy WOYWW Cindy #59

Talk about perseverance! I think I would have given up but the end result is fabulous!

You can't even even see my work desk right now because I'm working on scrapbooking and that takes every bit of space available!

Wow, what beautiful results you achieved on these card fronts! (Glad you mentioned that glue pads don't do the trick -- I have one I've never used for anything.) Happy WOYWW from Laura #106 (http://bookworm.typepad.com/)

Oh my, well worth the wait because the cards are gorgeous! Have to admit my favourite is the one with the blue bits in, the colours are so much like a humming bird!! Sorry I am so late in visiting, life gets in the way sometimes! Annette

Happy really really late woyww sorry it's taken so long, hardly any computer time.
Great cards. the guilding flakes look great, I always hate how tacky the glue is, I end up sticking stuff to everything for hours. ;)
