The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly

Good News:
- Bella is in Girl Scouts again this year. She has her first meeting today and she was sooo excited about it this morning!

- The Walking Dead is back again for another season! Yay! Bring on the dead!!!!

- Downton Abbey is also back on! But it's been very sad lately and seems to have taken a dark turn. I want it happy and dishy, with a splash of rich-bitchiness. Not death, loss, and betrayal! I can get all that from Facebook, ya know?

- In 65 days we will be flying to Florida to stay with Alex for Christmas!!! We will be doing the Disney thing, the Target thing, and the usual holiday merriment thing!

- When the world ends on 12-21-12, I'll be in a large airplane!! Hopefully we'll find some place safe to land. Like Florida, lol!

- My favorite soda is Fresca, and it has zero calories. I wish diet Dr. Pepper didn't taste like crap. Oh well.

- On the 15th Thomas got his first paycheck as an E-8!!! It would have been really great if our wonderful government (that's sarcasm here!) hadn't slashed our COLA money, so that now we're making about the same as before, lol! I love how all these "cost saving measures" wind up costing us money!

- The sun came out today!!! Nice to see you Mr. Sun!

Bad News:
- I'm not getting much sleep. As in barely any, and what I do get isn't restful. No clue why, but it really sucks. So I'm not getting sleep at night, and barely coasting through my days. Thank God for the online availability of American crap TV!!! At least I have something to stare at!

- I've got no mojo-for-crafting! I have all this cool stuff, sitting new and unused, upstairs and I can't even be bothered. Too many little things have gelled together and left me rather blue. Although crafting is awesome therapy for just about everything, I don't feel crafty when I'm sad. If I could just craft, I'd be less sad. Sucks when things work that way.

- I didn't get picked for the Design Team. Disappointment is a part of life; I get it. But I really had hoped that I would and I didn't know exactly how much it meant to me until I didn't. So. Shit. Not exactly helping in the lacking-mojo-for-crafting department.

- Thomas is super busy with work. And for the most part he loves it. And this is bad news for me, because I never really get to see him or spend time with him when he's home and conscious.

- The stupid cat will not leave my curtains and rugs alone!!!! He's going to spend his life locked up in the kitchen if he doesn't quit!!!!!

- I have to help Bella with her stupid, stupid, stupid school project today, that's due tomorrow. The teacher changed our plans, but the teacher is in for a rude surprise.....we're doing it MY way. And she can just suck it! And if Bella puts up a fuss, she can suck it too. Someone needs to remind the teacher these kids are in 3rd grade, not 5th, and that if they want things done a certain way, by a certain date, they need to either email the parents or send a note home. Lots of stuff gets "forgotten" on the long bus ride home when you're dealing with 7 & 8 year olds. And I don't like snippy replies to my emails when I have questions.

- Friends, or idiots disguised as friends, can really be jerks. And they can hurt you. A lot.

- I've got a headache.

Ugly News:
Politics. Whether we're talking about the Presidential race or the PTO, it always brings out the worst in people!! ALWAYS! The sad fact is that our two party political process is hopelessly broken. The person you are voting for is: 1) the one who tells you the lies you want to hear, 2) the lesser of two evils, and/or 3) someone far wealthier than you will ever be and has no clue about you, your life, or your troubles. By the time you reach the highest levels of government, these people are owned/obligated to powerful business people and lobbyists. They "owe" favors to everyone. Everyone except the people who voted them into office. We have a government that is too big, too powerful, with access to too much money, and run by lazy, entitled morons who major in sound bites. I'm not in the States, so I don't have to listen to all the commercials, but we get very little news coverage over here and what we do get ONLY focuses on the upcoming election. It's all so petty and stupid, you'd think we were watching The Real Housewives or something!!! Honestly, the whole process is just embarrassing. I could certainly come up with better ways of spending millions and millions of dollars, than on commercials bashing the morals/ethics/job performance of another person, just to get a $250,000.00/year job!

This is not a "happy" post. Sorry about that. Believe it or not, I'm not happy-happy-joy-joy all the time. There are no unicorns jumping over rainbows shooting out of my butt. (But that would kinda cool though, wouldn't it??) I just feel blue and blechey and this is my attempt to get it all out of myself, so I can start to feel better. That and Excedrin, and beating the cat's ass should help. Maybe. And please don't comment that tons of people have it tons worse than I do. I already know that. Sometimes you can't see the forest through the trees, k?

That's what I don't like about politics - it breeds divisiveness and that bothers me to no end.

You can apply again in the future for the design time. Just keep honing your skills!

Awww, what do those people who did the picking for the design team know? They should've asked US! :D
CH was SOOO excited about The Walking Dead. We aren't getting Downton Abbey yet, but you've peaked my interest! We have been watching "Call the Midwife".

I'm behind reading blogs, so I hope you are out of your funk by now.
BTW--I was thrilled to be watching Downton Abbey again. You cracked me up complaining about it being dark and about death, loss, and betrayal...and yet you love The Walking Dead!! LOLOL! ;)
Are you sure watching anything about politics didn't put you in a horrible mood. I avoid it for that very reason--so depressing. I already voted by mail and try to avoid all the commercials and nasty hoopla flying about from both sides. ;)

I hope you got my comment. I may have clicked out too quickly. Tired.

I saw the kitten and the curtains. I knew what was coming next.

I wish we didn't have a two-party political system. People become so polarized off the bat that they don't really pay attention to what the candidates are doing or saying and just remain emotionally attached. :(

Lack of sleep makes me depressed and sad. So I can only imagine that with constant lack of sleep you are feeling pretty emotionally crappy! That is NO place to be. :( I wish you luck in figuring out a way to get some good sleep much sooner than later so that you can get back to life!

Oh, I hear you in the lack of sleep department... it kind of takes the wind from your sails hey?

Your cat... my baby.... My 15 month old loves the curtains. She could play in them all day.

Sending you hugs and wishes for a good night's sleep.

Oh how I agree! Our system is beyond broke. And the billions overall spent! We'd have no homeless and hungry if all of that spending were channeled to the needs. Don't even get me started.

You don't have to be happy and upbeat all of the time. None of us are. That would be insane! Hope you are feeling a bit better by now, though.

Hugs

Oh and I meant to say that I would have chosen you as a design team winner. Go ahead and find that mojo back so you can show them next time!
