Thomas got PROMOTED!!!

OHMYGOSH! What a rollercoaster this has been!! The E-7 board met the month of February 2009. The "bootleg" list came out on Thursday the 19th. Everyone was on the list, but if you had a number after your name, then that was your sequence number (the order in which you would be promoted over the next year). So a number meant you made it; no number meant you didn't. So after waiting a month and a half for this information, you can imagine the suspense of wanting to know one way or another.

So the list comes out. Thomas isn't even ON IT!! Forget number or no number, he isn't even on the freaking list at all!!!! Yeah, you can just imagine the freak out he had - not pretty. Did the Army mess up and not look at his records?? AGAIN?? You see they had made a mistake and he hadn't been considered the past two years properly, so this year he was actually getting looked at three times, while everyone else was getting one look. Turns out that he would have made it on last year's list, and when the "official" list came out on the 24th, he was still not on it, but his records showed his current rank, SFC E-7, and a date of rank as September 1, 2008!!! So in reality he's BEEN a SFC since last September!! AND....when checking our pay statement, ALL THE BACKPAY has already been calculated and will be on his next payday (April 1st - but no joke, lol!!). YAY for the Army getting it right!!!! I'm so proud of my SFC Sweet Baboo!!!!
Over 150 people came to watch Thomas getting "pinned" and he had a full bird Colonel too!
He got a little emotional, he was so happy!
Accepting a plaque from his Sgt. Major.
Yeah, he's pretty happy!
Thanking me and Bella, ...
...then cracking a joke!

What a beautiful thing!!!!

Congratulations are in order! The military is a rollercoaster ride, that's for sure!

It's funny you post this yesterday as my husband found out yesterday on line that he received 2 Navy Commendation Medals 3 tours ago (4 years ago) but never received them. They have never been in his records because he never got them physically handed to him, and they were never forwarded to the right place.
