De-stress Thursday

Hi Gang! It's Thursday (already!!!) so time for some words of wisdom about De-Stressing! Yay!! The only thing is.........I've got nothing! Zilch! Nada! LOL!!!! The Bella is finally back at school (she had Mon & Tue off and was still sick yesterday), but if she gets diarrhea they'll send her right back home - so we shall see if this peaceful quiet thing lasts.

Where was I? Oh yeah, de-stressin'. Or not. Frankly I could use some good pointers!!! I'm stressin' because my huge, gi-normous Stampin' Up order isn't here and probably won't be for a little bit. Hello??? I'm not crafty or creative and by the time my shit gets here I will have forgotten everything I wanted to do!! My brain cells have expiration dates on ideas! It's an old broad thing. And stop laughing because one day Sweet Cheeks YOU will be old too!

So I have a sorta sick kid who did NOT want to go to school today, an overly-tired husband who thinks that snapping at me first thing in the morning is a good idea, and a spazzed out cat who thought that scratching at my cherry end table was going to get her pom-pom toy out from underneath. Fun times.

But now the whiney brat and equally whiney, but less cute, hubby are gone, and the spazzed cat wore herself out and is sleeping at my feet. The house is quiet. The tea is hot and delicious. I can hear myself think..............How am I supposed to concentrate with all this quiet?!?!?!?

I give up! If you dare, leave YOUR great de-stress tips in the comments. Perhaps I'll come up with something fantastic for next week. Or not. We.Shall.See.

While you're sipping that tea and enjoying the quiet... grab some index cards, or scraps of paper, or a roll of toilet paper if that's all you have...and jot down those great stampin up ideas you have so you DON'T forget them before your order comes :)

As for de-stressing. Hmmm...I could use some tips myself. I do like to sit quietly and just talk to God when I'm stressed. Or do something with my hands... dishes, playdough, beat somebody... er, something. LOL :)

I find laughing helps a LOT too ... so I look up jokes on the internet :)

Maybe if you go back to bed for a little while, the stress will be magically disappear!

Sorry, can't really help you on this one! I've been up since 5:15 AM. It's the usual time I get up, but I made the mistake of allowing my Shih-Tzu, Bella, sleep with me last night since my hubby is out of town. She stomped on my head half the night...I finally put her down in her own bed. So, my brain is dead! I think I'm going to take a little nap...nighty, nighty!!

I'm not much here. Do share your destressing ideas when you get them.

When my 7 year-old stresses out (and she does a lot) I tell her to breath deeply and slowly. Which reminds me that golf is a fantastic destresser for me. Something about trying to hit that ball forces me to concentrate so much that everything else that is stressful just disappears for the duration of the golf.

Golf isn't everyone's thing (and I won't pretend to be good at it) and sometimes has the opposite effect.

BUT exercise is usually great. Anything that you can lose yourself in for a while. Blogging might even work! Sometimes getting lost in someone else's life for a moment is great for relieving stress.

Go play Guitar Hero.., that ought to help. Call a friend and have a good laugh. Read a good book.

Or my favorite...put on your favorite rock music, turn it up & dance around the house. You can be as wild or weird as you want because no one will see you. LOL Have a party for one!

All my three kids are sick. I got nothin' for de-stressing.

If I remember correctly. You should get your Stampin' Up! stash in about a week. It didn't take long for me. You know what? Go to the craft store, that always cheers me up.

Hi Jeannie,

I always tell people to meditate and then they look at me as if I am crazy. So if meditation is not for you then rest is best. If your kid is sick then cuddle with him/her and read, make lazy days enjoyable.

When we are sick our body is telling us to rest, when we are cranky it may be because we are tired, or we haven't "got some" lately. Rest is best for stress for you and your whole family.

I know, I know, no body has time for rest but guess what? You are the boss of you, the boss of your life, and probably the boss of your family, lol. You can do what you want to.

But if rest is not what you seek, try vigorous exercise, that might put you and your man in a good mood, te he he.

Just remember to have fun and be playful, you have it in you, I can tell from your posts.

Have a great weekend.

Sharpening your claws by scratching a cherry end table sounds like a great way to de-stress!
