What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #295

It's time yet again to partake in the world-wide Looky-Loo into the crafting desks of some of the most amazing crafters you're ever likely to meet! Confused? Be sure to start with our Hostess, Ms. Julia on Stamping Ground for all the particulars! :D

My desk this week:
I had a very lovely afternoon in my Stamping Studio on Sunday! Unfortunately, I haven't been back up there since!! *sad face* Between home school, housework, and finally, finally taking down our Christmas tree and decorations (please, don't judge!!!), I just haven't had the time or energy to be creative. I wish I could afford a maid, lol!!! Anyway, while playing on Sunday, I water colored two background pieces with Distress Inks (right hand side of desk) to try out the "bokeh" look. It needed to dry before doing anything else, and I'd say after three days it's surely dry by now! I also tried out a new damask background stamp that recently came in with several new embossing powders and even some gilding flakes. All turned out gorgeous, but sadly aren't shown here. Definitely squeal worthy though...well, at least I did! Then I stamped out several sheets of card stock with my newest stamp sets for cards I wanted to make (Lawn Fawn on the left, and Stampin Up in the center). I will be coloring those with pencils and Copics soon, I hope! Lately I've found that I'm more productive in my card making if I "set the stage" so to speak beforehand. I really wanted to make more cards this year and keep in better touch with my friends. I also want to do more challenges, but haven't made it that far that. Baby steps, right?? I'm still in my coloring mode, and quite in love with all of Lawn Fawn's stamp and matching die sets! So, so cute!

On Saturday, I did manage to finish the last of my colored flower and butterfly cards and made up four super cute "face" cards. You can check those out HERE, if you'd like to see them!

A friend of mine posted this photo on Facebook and it gave me a huge laugh! I hope it made you at least smile!!! Thanks so much for popping by and I hope you'll leave a comment before you head on to the next desk! Have a fabulous, crafty week, everyone!!!

It's tedious when reality gets in the way of crafting and playing nicely, lol!! But things have got to be done sadly. The cards that you made were gorgeous, I popped over t have a look. And I suppose that with colouring, you can pick it up and put it own many times - it doesn't all have to be done in one fell swoop!
I have messaged you about the hedgehog! Thanks for your interest in that :-)

Take heart, Jeannie. You have managed at least an afternoon - and the results are lovely. The time will come again!!
Take care. God bless.

No judging here! I simply hate the idea of taking down the Christmas stuff, packing it up then putting it away. I've learned to force myself to get it done before the New Year that way I start out the New year fresh, perhaps try that next year. Diane #37

I love the cards..specially the 'miss your face'..how fun. I know what you mean about setting the stage..it would be so useful if you could just allocate two hours every day...then there would never be a panic and there would be time to play and be productive! You're doing well though gal..I like the pre stamped body parts!!

The backgrounds look great.
Had a little chuckle at the squirrel!!

I've never been good at decorating for Christmas, so everything is fast to put up and pack away... And if something is forgotten at packing time, it ends up hanging the whole year... Enjoy your colouring, no stress!

Instead of a maid, how about having a clone to do all the boring stuff for us? I often fantasize about that! Sometimes I think life is too short to waste on housework. No judging about the Christmas lights here! We've still got some of hours up. We decided to keep them up until the end of the winter. Those little fairy lights make the dark nights and mornings so much more bearable! Thanks for stopping bu earlier! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle

No, I don't think anyone will judge you for putting away your Cristmas stuff late!
I also had a laugh at your squirrel picture. I feel the same. (Unfortunately we are going on a diet in a few days, so no more wine! That's really difficult in Spain!)

I forgot to say thank you for visiting my page. Have a good week,

Lots of exciting things going on here, Jeannie! I look forward to seeing more. I also popped over to look at your lovely cards, and the face ones are amazing - you only need a couple of clues (eyes, mouth) for your brain to make up the whole face, complete with expression! Brilliant.

I was highly amused at your comment on Fuzzie's blog about your hubby rolling his eyes - mine is exactly the same when I say "Could I make art out of that?" over some old rubbish!! Hubbies just don't understand, do they. It's not as if there's anythng wrong with US, of course lol!!

Thanks for your lovely encouraging comment. This is a strange limbo period I'm in at the moment, and I am looking forward to some more concrete news, whatever that turns out to be, so we can move forward. I've got a real "let battle commence" feeling now and just want to get on with it. Thanks for the hugs, which are always welcome!

So glad you like my embroidery. It is very therapeutic and an ideal thing to be doing while I am so unsettled. I think if I wasn't doing something I'd go mad.

Happy WOYWW,

I'm glad you managed to squeeze in little creative fun. I always feel a bit blue, if I don't get the chance to do something every few days. It's good for the soul.

You should feel good you got something accomplished on the weekend--our chores and responsibilities sometimes sap all our energy during the week. But the thought of embossing powders and gilding flakes should make you happy - what fun! I need to venture into that world of the powders and the heat gun--the result are so beautiful. Thanks for the visit. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #53

Thanks for your visit earlier, wish I could send you some sun, we lived in Detmold for eight years in the seventies so I know what the winters can be like.
Would love to see what you did with gilding flakes mine have only seen the light of day once, not successful with them.

Oh yes, home school can definitely get in the way of art time--I used to make lessons specifically designed to go with art things I wanted to try, that's always a sneaky way to get school AND art fun at the same time!

I know what you mean about setting the scene for crafting.

The great thing with colouring is that is can be done anywhere, though it can be difficult to balance life/craft though-hope you manage to get some craft time in.
Thanks for visiting my desk already
