Thomas did it!!!
He made the E-8 list!!!!
The ONLY ONE in his Battalion to do so!!
Now....the big question...where will he be moved to?? He can't stay in his current unit (THANK GOD!!), but we're not sure if he can find a slot on this post (WAY NOT COOL!!). We're hoping he can find something right here in Vicenza, or possibly in Pisa. Otherwise, we will have to decide where we're going next!!! It's always an adventure in the Army! We're *guessing* he'll sew it on around June of next year. I sooooo need to stay in Italy longer!!! Or will we go to Germany? Maybe England??? Stay tuned....

Congratulations to your husband and hope the next adventure turns out to be as much fun as Italy has been. As you say you may even get to stay here longer. :)
What wonderful news for Thomas and YOU!! Congrats!! I do hope that he can find a place there in Italy. I know how much you love it there..a dream come true. I'm sure where ever you go...it will be an adventure. I mean..how can it not be with the BELLA.

I cannot imagine moving again, though. This is coming from someone who has dug in with an accumulation of 31 years of stuff in the same home!

Congratulations Thomas. Not sure what it all means (service ranks can be so confusing) but I do know its a good thing :-)
Hopefully you can find a spot there - moving is always a pain - overseas frustration to say the least - with the service nearly impossible (you'd think they would have it down pat by now). Besides we're not ready to stop seeing the wonderful pictures of your adventures. One day I'll get overseas - then I may have to hire Jeanne as my tour guide

CONGRATULATIONS (SGT??) Thomas!! I can't remember what the E8 rank is. Does that make him a First SGT? This is great news and although I know this unit is not all you could hope it to be (and really, is any unit perfect? Neal had to remind me of this MULTIPLE times during the deployment), I hope you will get to stay abroad for a few more years. Ahh the Army life...it isn't for everyone but it sure is exciting for us, isn't it?? Congrats on the promotion and good luck on the slot search!
Also, the little girls in Bella's class were SO precious!! And your Christmas cards, as always, are little paper masterpieces.
