Inspiring Quotes Wednesday

****************************************************

Many of my regular readers questioned why I would post the video I did yesterday, (see the post directly below this one). Why show something so horrific, something so inhuman? Exactly for that reason! If humanity as a whole (and I'm not pointing any fingers at China - this could have happened anywhere!), has become so hardened and indifferent, then it is time for a serious wake up call!

****RING!!!!****

Are you awake now???

Yes, the Chinese culture as a whole is much different than our own. They are much more inclined to "mind their own business", not ask questions, not get involved. Many would-be Good Samaritans are often fined and/or sued for damages just for trying to do the right thing and help. If you faced that risk, perhaps you would be less inclined yourself. Times are tough all over, right? Of the 20 people who walked past a critically injured, bleeding toddler - some who pretended not to see, some who paused but ultimately walked on - only #20, the homeless woman, actually got involved and offered assistance and was with the child when the mother was found. The one person with nothing to lose, who gave the most, who gave all she had.

The one with the least, gave the most.

What can you do? What can any one person do?

BE the change you want to see.

Tired of rude drivers? Don't BE one.

Tired of unruly children? Volunteer and mentor kids in your area.

Tired of politicians making bad choices? Keep them accountable!

Tired of crabby people everywhere? Share your smile with them!

Sick and tired, of being sick and tired?

BE the change you want to see.

It sounds simple, but it's not. It just makes all the difference in the world! Start small. Start where you are, right now. Be a beacon of light in this often dark world. You can change the world. An open heart, an open mind, kindness, tolerance.....love. Be strong and steadfast.

BE the change you want to see.

I know you can do it. And what a difference you'll make!

UPDATE: You can go HERE, and see a CNN update on the child. She hasn't died as I wrote yesterday. News is always a bit sketchy coming out of China, due to governmental control. The news story also includes a video interviewing both the mother of the child, as well as the Good Samaritan. It made me cry, but it also made me hope that perhaps this horrible act could be a catalyst for positive change. Our hearts and prayers go out to this precious child, and her family.

Society as a whole has become imprisoned by the laws of liability. I can understand people not wanting to step up in minor instances, but this was something that should not have happened. I pray the little girl will recover, and I thank God for that one person who decided to do what she knew was the right thing to do.

Reminds me of that woman years ago who was attacked and killed in New York and all those people heard her screams and never called the police.
So sad. So chilling!!
Great quotes today.

I'm glad the child survived.

And, by the way, this is a wonderful and very inspiring post! Thank you for taking the time to write it! :)

I fully agree with Tori - excellent post!

I agree with Alice Kay too - something really wrong with society when you fear running afoul with our (in)justice system enough that it overrides the "normal" inclination to help someone in need.

I'm sorry if what I wrote in my comment ... ticked you off in anyway.
