Friday Night Out!

Friday was another really busy, full day. Alex and I ran some errands on post and then went shopping at Emisfero again. Unfortunately my feet were killing me by then and I didn't get a chance to look around as much as I wanted to. (rats) In the afternoon our neighbors took us to a local vineyard (forgot to bring my camera - sorry!!!) and we picked up some of the yummiest wine EVER!!!! Seriously good stuff! And they let you try anything you want, even if that means opening up a fresh bottle - no questions asked. They have these HUGE floor to ceiling vats of wine with spigots on the bottom and people will bring in what looks like white gas cans....and fill 'em up! Much less expensive that way and very "normale" for this area. I'm not sure what they charge, or how they figure it out, but it's very different from the States! We did get three bottles of the house fragolino which is my newest favorite to date. I think between Alex and I, we picked up about 18 bottles - which came to only 40 euros!!! (don't judge us, lol!!!) I have to say that trying a new wine and sharing a bottle every evening with Thomas and Alex has pretty much been a huge highlight of my recent days, and could be responsible for the lack of blogging lately, lol!!!

I wasn't in the mood to cook, so we decided to go out for dinner. I LOVE going out to eat in Italy!!! I wish I could afford it every day because, man oh man, it's fabulous!!! When we were seated, I looked around and saw that everything was so...so......so purple!! I immediately thought of my sweetie Christina, and knew I had to take some photos immediately!
The pictures don't even capture it's true purpleness.
It was PURPLE!!!
The chandeliers were really pretty
We went to a place known for it's pizza, but I had already tried it, and loved it!, so wanted something new. One of the other people in our Head Start class had had seafood risotto, so when I saw it on the menu, I knew it was what I was going to get!!! It was nearly 8pm when we were served, so I was very hungry! And therefore did not take a picture, but it was fabulous!!! It had mussels, clams, scallops and OCTOPUS - delish!!! For dessert, I had lemon gelato. But not just any gelato.....it was served in a whole lemon which had it's top cut off, filled with lemon gelato and then frozen. So pretty and sooooooo wonderful!
The kids all got regular ice cream in these Looney Tune cups (Alex was one of the "kids", lol!). Bella got the "Titty" and Alex got Bugs Bunny. We left very, very full and very, very satisfied. And I was so tired when I got home, that I never wound up having any wine. Oh well, tomorrow is another day....

Oh my goodness, that was a whole pot of AWESOME!!! I looked through your first set of photos a few days ago (and was overcome with jealousy about the gelato) but when I hopped on reader this morning and saw where you had put up like 6 more posts with pictures, I got excited all over again!!
1) I have NEVER seen the Virgin Mary pictured as pregnant and it's very interesting.
2) I'm not sure that hanging someone and THEN shooting them is really all that necessary. That seems to me to be the very definition of the word "overkill"...
3) I just can't get over how EVERYTHING in Italy is beautiful. You are surrounded by art 24-7. Even the people are beautiful. You are truly in your element!
4) What are you learning in your Head Start class? Italian, I presume...
5) When does Thomas actually start working? You can't play ALL day, y'know...the U.S. military doesn't like that.

And I'm putting together a box for you. Is there anything you miss in the states that you can't get there? I hardly wanted for anything while we were in Italy but my sister would always ask me to send Skyline Chili packets or Crystal Light.

I know what a pain in the rear it is to post that many photos on blogger. Thank you for taking us along with you on your tours! I'm loving every minute of it!! xoxo

Looks like a fun night, even without the wine! :)

It sounds like you're having a great time getting to know Vicenza. I am extremely envious. :)

Titty? I had to laugh when I saw that on the menu. Sorry. LOL

Thanks for sharing your pictures and your new life with us. So exciting to see. *hugs*
