Be a doll, pass me the Excedrin...

Photobucket

Oh.My.Gosh.

Is today over?? Can it be over if I just get into bed and not get up until tomorrow?? Please????

I would just like to state for the record, that I HATE, HATE, HATE "service" companies. You know, like AT&T, DirecTV, Verizon, etc etc etc. After pushing God knows how many buttons, how many times, if you're lucky you'll get to talk to a real, live human being. Who might speak English. And who will definitely talk to you with rudeness and a severely condescending attitude. I'd like to make a national holiday of just hating on India and/or Pakistan or wherever the hell these stupid call centers are from. Seriously. Forget a day of prayer. I just want a day of hate. I've gone over to the dark side, people. And they have free chocolate, so I might not be coming back.

I'm kidding.

(Mostly. I think.)

You know when you start up with a company, it's almost NEVER on the first of the month, or the last day of the month. So you have to pay a "prorated" amount. This is code for taking it up the ass, hard. And you always pay these companies a month in advance, so you have a HUGE first bill and then it levels out. So....when it comes time to disconnect, you should have a month left of service after you pay that last time, right? Nope. No, no, no, no. Because these are "service" companies!!! Why on earth would you assume you would get any service??? Hello??? That word went out with the Kennedy administration!!!

No, when you call to arrange your disconnect, you ask what date you are paid up til, only to find out that somehow along the way that your payment date is now in "mid-cycle". What?? No one could adequately explain this to me. So they get ya comin', and they get ya goin'. The only service these companies provide is migraines.

But they aren't getting another penny out of us!!!! Firstly, because I have a budget and taking it up the butt one last time wasn't in the plan. And secondly, it's just become a matter of principle at this point. I have spent countless hours on the phone with these jackasses in the nearly two years of living here, and I'm just not going to reward their crap with another hard earned dollar. I refuse!!!! And as much as I'm going to hate not having cable past Friday, or phone & internet past the 30th, I'm not giving in!!!

So yeah, I kept my computer here, only to have no internet service. Call me Charlie Brown!!!! At least I have my air-conditioning (knock wood!) because we are having major heat advisories right now, and poor Rachel's has been out for two days. The part to fix it is backordered and has been for months!! Yes, our housing is privatized and they only care about taking our money, not providing us with any service!! See??? It's everywhere!!!

The hold baggage pick up went smoothly. No reason for it not to, as we were totally prepared and had everything on the dining room table and garage (for the dirty, dusty Army equipment). But you never know - the best laid plans....and all that jazz. I forgot to take "before" pics but took these "after".

Thomas goofing around
Weirdo!!
Little truck! The one coming next time will be HUGE and have empty wooden crates on it. When you move overseas, all the boxes and furniture get put into wooden crates. Then the crates are put into those metal storage containers seen often on trains, for the boat ride over the Atlantic.
The movers were fast, friendly and fast. Just the way I like 'em.
Army shit stuff.

And some good news:
I MADE FRESH, FROM SCRATCH PINEAPPLE SALSA!!!
It was sooo yummy good with lime tortilla chips!
And The Bella is going to be wearing this awesome outfit on the 4th!! Cynde made this especially for her from the bloggy contest I won! LOVE IT!!

Next battle, the housing office. I'm primed and ready to go and they have already tried to start trouble.....I'm going to eat them for breakfast!!!!!

Having moved less than a year ago, I still feel the pain vividly. Such a headache, assache, and everythingache. Go to the mattresses!!! This is business, not personal.

I love that little outfit that is just so cute, wonderful job your friend did on that.

I do hate calling any service center just for that reason of having to push so many numbers just to get to maybe talk to a human. And I agree they do seem to be so rude.

I hope your week gets better, hugsss

I'm glad the movers were good ones. I agree with you on the service company cr@p. I am usually patient, but they can try even the most patient of people.

I hope tomorrow is better for you.

a small tip if you are shipping a vehicle, check your battery and cables before you leave (I'd even take a picture). When I shipped my car from HI to FL, I'm unsure if they unplugged my battery or not, but the cables to the battery were completely corroded by the time I picked it up (in Orlando), but I safely made the 6 hr drive to NW Florida before my car stopped running. MANY hrs later I had to get the cables replaced, and a new battery. I don't think the salty sea air likes vehicles :o)
