What you really need is to express and release the negative emotions you're feeling. Instead of yelling or punching someone in the face (and no Melodie, it can't be considered an exercise you enjoy doing, lol!), try this. Write it down! Every emotion, all the anger, all the frustration - just let it out....on paper! That is the expression part. Then "release" it by putting it in a Stress Box. If you want to, crumble it up or tear it to shreds, but when you are finished then let it go.
When you have dealt with the emotion part, THEN you can rationally deal with the situation that caused the anger and stress to begin with. Calmly! Get rid of those nasty, icky, negative emotions!!!! They will only simmer in your heart and soul and you will have wasted all that time and energy on something that won't bear any good fruit!!
Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret.

That's a great idea! I'm a big screamer!
That's a great idea!! Of course during my PMS week that box would be WAY to small. (LOL) I totally understand your first post - about having to many bottles of stuff. I must have 10 different hand lotions around the house - but I have finally found one that I really like.
WOOHOO!!! Congrats on being smoke free for 18 days!! Go Girl!!
Good tip I have a few people I need to pass this on to.
i received a hospital bill that made me very angry - i battled with the insurance and the hospital for over a month, but it was a losing battle.
so i decided to let my anger leave in the mail with the payment. and guess what - my blood isn't boiling as i type this comment.
Can I set it on fire too?
Did I mention I'm a pyro?
I taught my girls to do something quite similar to this. Children often start to replay things in their minds at bedtime and will become bothered by the days events making for a restless sleep. So they each have a tiny trinket box under their pillows and when things start to bother them at bedtime they are suppose to "take those things out of their mind and put them in the box". Then in the morning if they've collected any bad thoughts they take their boxes out to the patio and open them up...God burns their troubles away with the sunlight.
It's helped to end nightmares that were once a great ordeal in our home.
Some days I'm gonna need a VERY VERY VERY big box...
What a wonderful idea!! Maybe if I do that I can keep my foot out of my mouth.
I agree with Donetta... I need a big box.
Nice share Jeannie.
I'm a ranter, as Jason can attest. But, I get over things pretty quickly, which is good.
I find having a couple of really good friends and MSN at work really helps me deal with the day's stresses. I let it all out to them - and they to me - and w can move on with our day.
I love that quote! Does this really work?
Im with TMM, write it down, rip it up and burn it in the bbq out back.
I write a lot when I'm stressed about something. I've learned not to write in my journal about it quite so much. My posterity will think I was always this drama-queen who was angry! I think putting it in the box or the trash after I'm done would be a much better thing to do. :)
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE your blog!!! And congrats on the 19.5 days being SMOKE FREE!!!! Awesome!!!!!! You can do it!!!
