Edited to add: According to German tradition, the pickle brings good luck. After all the other ornaments were hung on the tree, the pickle ornament was hidden somewhere within the branches. On Christmas morning the first child to find the gherkin was rewarded with an additional small present left by St. Nicholas. The pickle tradition encourages youngsters to enjoy the many ornaments on the tree before checking to see what St. Nick has brought them.

I'm so glad to see you posting again! Those look great.
What a fun idea - they look so good. I bet I know where the tiara will end up!!! LOL
You're back!! I was starting to get worried!
Missed you!
Great gifts you got. How a bout a picture of you in that tiara?
Ok my friends were worried that my husband's family may be crazy. I had never heard of the German pickle ornament until I met him. I told my friends about it and they made some x-rated remarks about hiding a pickle LOL.
The kids have the best time finding the pickle on our tree. It's a great tradition!
I'm glad your back:)
This exchange looks fun, maybe next year!

I've never heard of a pickle ornament, I must need to get in touch with my German roots, lol.
My aunt loves frogs, and that smoochiefrog is adorable!
Hey, your back!! Missed your updates.
Cool ornaments. I am thinking next year I am going to sign up for those swaps. Though, I have to find a swap. I don't find those until it is to late. Oh well.
Cute...now it's time to get a picture of them up on the tree.
I'm so glad you like them! The MINUTE I saw that tiara I knew it was perfect for you!
Thanks so much for participating and I hope you'll join in again next year!
We love our pickle tradition!
I love a good swap! My family does the pickle ornament tradition, also.
so cute love the pictures!
Very cute. My hubby and I get each other an ornament every Thanksgiving.
My staff and I just decorated our tree last night and one of my kids (staff, but they're mine already :)asked where the pickle was? HUH? He explained...I felt happy reading this today and knowing the history!
