Not ALL sugar & spice...

So anyway.....now that The Bella is in school full time, she has had the opportunity to enrich her "repertoire" of sayings and actions. Now while SOME of them are oh-so-cute, many are oh-so-NOT! Sassing the Mommy is a new trick. I don't like it. At all. And the more I show I don't like it the more she's been doing it. Like, look everybody! Watch my Mom's explode!!! Isn't that cool??? So I was thinking about how to nip this crapola right in the bud. Because frankly I NEED my head to stop almost-exploding!!

Now she has seen Santa at the mall and for awhile that was working as a threat for any/all bad behavior. But it's been a couple of weeks and she's over it. Time outs don't work on her - never did. Nothing was working!!! Then I remembered Alex, when she was about the same age. With the same problem. *evil grin* I plopped The Bella on the kitchen counter, grabbed my camera and fixed her little red wagon!
All I can say is GOD BLESS SOAP!!

Oh Jeannie! I hate to say it, but that was so darn cute (shhh, don't tell Bella I said that). I don't have little ones, but my Mom used to call me Nellie Olson when I was a tot. I do remember as a child thinking, "okay this will make them happy, I'll say I'm sorry"! She'll grow out of it, and into it, and out of it....My thoughts are with you!

Oh - poooor Bella (and pooooor YOU). I wanted to cry for you both. She was SO DARN sad and CUTE in the movie... and not nearly repentant enough - haha. Doesn't that just drive you crazy? The empty "sorrys"?

Our's doesn't seem to get a thing from time outs either. I feel for you. I'm still working on finding an alternative that works.

How cute Bella is - and what good idea. Let us know how this goes.

I think you handled it very well. No one likes the taste of soap, so hopefully that will be enough to keep her from sassing you.

That is the saddest I've seen Bella look since I started reading your blog. I hope you kissed away her tears when you were done.

You just started getting sassed by Bella? Hell, Rowan has been doing it since she was 2!

Time outs don't work on my girl either. Neither does spanking, for the most part. We have tried taking a toy away each time she misbehaves, but she can now get into the linen closet & retrieves them when we are not looking.

I think I am going to try the soap now. If that doesn't work, there is always the switch from the tree...LOL.

This is what happens when you give birth to highly intelligent, iron willed girls.

Now you know why I named my blog Last Shreds Of Sanity! I swear I have a permanent migraine & my brain is so gone I can barely compose a cohesive, intelligent, complete thought most of the time.

I feel your pain!!

But Bella was adorable...sorry, but she was!

Oh & Super Nanny would have us bound & flogged if she knew we were giving our kids soap in the mouth! But those techniques don't work on every kid & she should know that!

Sorry for the ramble, but...oh I can't remember what I was going to say. See? I told you!

I agree with everyone, Bella was still adorable, even being punished! :o)

Hope it works!!!

She is so cute when she says 'soap.' I think she is just adorable in this video even if it is her getting in trouble.

Wow! Hope it works!

i never ever had to use soap with my children EXCEPT FOR THE LAST child. I swear he is demon like at times! I think I may have seen a tail, OH WAIT! that was my tail. He is the only child that can make me demonic! LOL
But, he had a serious wicked mouth that he picked up from the neighbor and could not stop himself. WE DID'nt have a bar of soap, so I took the liquid dish soap and put it from the middle of his tongue to the tip of his tongue. Told him to stick his tongue out. He did. It didn't bother him in the LEAST BIT! so I took a bit more. NOTHING! I am really not sure what made him give up his potty words!
maybe threatening him to lick the inside of the toilet, since the words were potty words.
