A quick, little whine...

Could SOMEONE please explain to me the phenomenon of why kids wake up EARLY on the weekend, and yet you have to peel them out of bed on school days?? Now The Bella loves going to pre-school so it isn't that she doesn't want to go. And yet Mon-Fri I have to wake her butt up and try to get a wigglin', whinin', half-asleep kid into clothes and attempt to get her hair done. And you should see her hair today - good grief!! I did her usual pigtails but the part is crazy crooked and one "tail" is significantly larger than the other - oh well!!! So anyway, I digress. I look forward to the weekend when everyone is home together, and more importantly I don't have to wake up to an alarm clock. I HATE WAKING UP TO AN ALARM CLOCK!!! Beep! Beep! Beep!! Actually mine is more like beepity-beep-beepity-beep......still.....it wakes me up when I was perfectly sound asleep. And then I have to wake up The Bella. But come Saturday or Sunday?? That kid wakes up an hour earlier than we normally do on a school day!!!! What is up with that?? OK, just wanted to throw that out there into cyberspace so I could stop steaming about it! Carry on!!

I ask my kids that their answer is weekends are more fun!

Actually, on the weekends, my kids sleep in as well, they are still young. So that issue has not come up...yet. The weekdays are horrible. I hate waking up to alarms. It takes me longer to adjust to the day, than if I woke up on my own.

I feel your pain. I finally got my Indians to fix their own breakfast (i.e. eggos or cereal) while repeating the mantra "No one wakes up Mom & Dad on the weekend.." and watching their own cartoons in their own room.

Wasnt ever like that as a kid. Once Im in stop / sleep mode...I kinda like to stay that way.

I would love to give you the answer to that question, but I'm still trying to figure it out myself.

Luckily, my kids are 10 and 12, so on weekends I can sleep in a bit (like, until 8:30 or so). As long as they don't happen upon each other, things are generally peaceful; if one as much as looks at the other or passes within spitting distance, all hell breaks loose.

And when it does, I play dead.

We weren't allowed to wake up my parents on the weekend....unless we wanted to start our chores earlier!!! We took that time to get our cereal & watch cartoons before those long days of cleaning. I enjoy my Saturdays much more as an adult...without kids.
