Great Tip Tuesday

Does this sound familiar????:

You twirl around your home cleaning/picking up/organizing all day long, but at the end of the day it looks like nothing is accomplished!!

Do you know WHY? Because you start in one room, doing one chore. Then you see something that belongs in another room. So you bring it to that room and see the trash is full, so you empty it and bring it outside. Then outside you see you need to sweep the porch, but when you go inside to get the broom, you see the cat litter needs to be emptied, but the extra bag of litter is in the garage. In the garage you see the chest freezer which reminds you that you didn't take meat out for dinner. So you pick something out, forgetting the cat litter entirely, and put it on the counter. Then you see the Halloween candy on the counter, and grab a fun size candy bar and check your email while you eat it. ETC, ETC, ETC!!!!!!

So while you are "busy" all day long, but no one thing really gets done. FRUSTRATING!!! So here is a great tip - FOCUS!!!!! Start in one room and do everything that needs doing before you move to the next room. The secret is to not leave the room until all the chores are done there. That way you can move on to the next room and you have actually accomplished something.

Trust me - this really works!!!

Focus is not my strongpoint and you can tell by the shape my living room is in right now, lol.

When I was a little girl, my Mom used to have us "whirlwind". We (my brother and I) would spin around, then run to our rooms picking up as quickly as possible. It was actually a fun game for us! I still think of this when I decide it's time to do housework (I just don't spin anymore)! I guess it's kind of like the effects of a "reverse tornado"!

I will have to try that next time. Right!! I am a bad house keeper.

I've seen that before in an email. But it's SO true! I try to keep my focus on each thing, and even though I might leave that room, I go with the purpose of bringing something back to that room so I won't forget why I was there in the first place.

Great advise, Jeannie!

Just a fabulous tip! And a great explanation to use with my hubby for why I'm exhausted from being sooooo busy, with absolutely no proof, lol! Thanks bunches and bunches! :o)
