Too bloody true... Rank is for those at work not those who support! keep doing what you are doing. They are the ones lacking - they lack a life outside of their husbands and the balls to do their 'thing'
I hope that B reads this and chokes on it!! Sorry. That was a little harsh. I'm still drinking my coffee. YOU, Jeanne, are mega amazing and a source of inspiration to me (didn't know if you knew that). HUGE hugs from the prairie of OK!
It astounds me that a stranger would have the nerve to come over and tell you what she thinks you should be doing differently with your life.
I realize that if your husband is a politician or some public figure that maybe (and maybe not) but MAYBE in that instance is what the spouse does a direct influence on their career. There is already tremendous pressure and stress on the spouses of military because of the crazy hours and time away and also just supporting the stress of the job. Military wives make so many sacrifices simply to maintain a happy, peaceful home environment.
To expect, on top of this, that you showboat yourself around town and engage in social climbing is RIDICULOUS. Maybe if these wives were determining rank advancement their opinion would count. But I most certainly hope that the decisions on military advancement are not made by the spouses of those who serve.
I make it a point to ask to be REMOVED from the coffee roster as soon as we get to a new unit. I work outside the home (which is my passion) and love to help with FRG b/c it benefits everyone. I've found that you will always offend someone, and people will feel you do things wrong...but at the end of the day your happiness (and your families) is ALL that matters. Hugs girlie!!!
Wow...I am glad that is not me on the other end of those post its. I will say...it happens in education...there is always someone ahead of you....and their spouse can sometimes take on the roll of ruler. I had a good friend who got a Central Office job...and our friendship changed drastically. I am content with who I am and what I am...so well said girlfriend...well said.
Who am I??? Well, a lot more than will fit into a little box! I am many things, to many people, but I am and always will be...the Queen! I'm an Air Force veteran, a retired Army Wife, an Army Mom, and an Air Force Mom! I have a passion for paper crafting, especially stamping. It's a terrific way to be creative, even if you have little "artistic" talent like me, lol! My family is everything to me, and I think it shows in everything I do. Happiness is my realm, and I personally welcome you!

You tell 'em, Jeannie! I admire your tenacity!
Go Jeannie!!! It's them that are insecure and have no sense of self-worth if they have to hang onto their husband's achievements.

Ridiculous.
You keep on being amazing!!!!!
I'm with you! I never did care for societal rung climbing gathering. I'd rather enjoy my life and give them something to talk about. ;)
